Pedagogy

The quality of our teaching at Open World International School is made possible thanks to rigour, dynamism, and positive, differentiated pedagogy. Our students follow an international curriculum which meets the requirements of the French State education guidelines and of the international Cambridge programme, and as such prepares them to sit international exams.

Small class sizes allow for the individual monitoring of each student.

We believe in a common-sense approach to education where trust, respect, communication, and effort are our safeguards. We believe in enticing students to try rather than forcing them to do so. We believe in celebrating their successes and not highlighting their failings and shortcomings. We believe in considering each individual student’s affinities, strengths, and difficulties in order to create a bond of trust between student and teacher. A teacher’s role is to guide and assist their students. They should facilitate co-operation and a sense of team spirit in their classroom while providing a positive and stimulating learning environment. We strive to strike a balance between benevolence and high standards through our teaching methods.

A GLOBAL APPROACH

As an innovative school, Open World International School offers students an education which considers both academic development and social, personal, and emotional development. Our social, personal, and emotional development programme includes modules on getting to know yourself, on developing personal skills, on developing communication skills, and on creating and sustaining positive relationships with others. Our goal is to help our students grow not only in their learning but in their social skills: co-operation, respect, initiative-taking, independence, courage, positive thinking, work ethic, etc. Social skills and know-how are inextricably linked.

FAMILY, A CORNERSTONE

Our teaching is based on a close relationship with the families of our students, who remain their primary instructors. It is through communication and trust between the family and the educational staff that a sound, effective teaching relationship can be built to best serve the student.

SECONDARY

Small class sizes allow teachers to treat each student as an individual. This important framework encourages students to invest themselves in their classes. Teachers are recruited for their dynamic teaching methods and their investment in their students.
